This is the End , was a work made in the darkroom using the technique of photograms. As someone who clings to objects like a magpie,I had kept a bag of opaque colored beads which I found within the treasures of my room. I wanted to keep the beads for an art project but was unsure if I would ever use them for anything other than friendship bracelets. After a year of them living in my drawer I came up with the idea of using them to create stories through photograms. Similar to claymation style animation it was easy to rearrange and play with shapes. While playing with them I begin to think about the growing and continued popularity of dystopian and apocalyptic worlds. This obsession with the end of the world kept spinning around in my head. Instead of a disease or zombies I wanted to visualize a narrative of a steroid crashing into the earth. Much larger than any of us and impossible to prevent.
