My project,The Dream House, is a collection of silver gelatin prints of different houses, motels, and businesses around the Saratoga Springs area. Affectionately called “Frankenhouse”, the work came from the want to create the ideal home from other existing ones. The house became a fantasy home which had multiple doorways and reflections which were impossible. It was meant to read at first as a singular house and the more time a viewer spent with the house the more secrets would be revealed. It is pure fiction torn from the pages of fantasy books I would read as a child. Representing the escapism and sense of safety I found within fictional homes with fictional families. Using a cutting tool to collage this house by hand with the black and white helping to blend the differing houses together. I created a home that the child I was longed for, The Dream House.
